13 Dates Through Aug 27, 2024

ABOUT ABOUT

The Center for Urban Ecology is excited to announce the return of Flashlight Nights this summer! Join naturalists on an evening adventure through the trails of Quinta Mazatlan in search of frogs, owls, insects, spiders, scorpions and other creatures of the night. The program runs on select Tuesdays, June through August, 8:30 to 10:00 p.m. No matter what creatures you find, you will get to see Quinta Mazatlan in a different light!

Our ecosystems are just as active at night as they are during the day – full of predators and prey, pollinators, decomposers and more – but the action is often unseen. “It’s easy to miss the nocturnal life all around us,” says John Brush, urban ecologist at Quinta Mazatlan. “Our Flashlight Nights program allows guests a sneak peek into the lives of our wildlife at night.” With flashlights, black lights, and experienced guides, guests will be shown the amazing diversity of plants and animals that live in the urban nature center.

Flashlight Nights is an outdoors program with limited space to help ensure the health, safety, and comfort of all guests. Participants are encouraged to bring their own flashlights and to wear outdoor-appropriate clothing. The Quinta Mazatlan gates are closed at 8:30, so guests are asked to arrive a few minutes early to the program.  Pre-purchased tickets are required and can be found at www.quintamazatlan.ticketleap.com.  For more information, please call Quinta Mazatlan at 956-681-3370, email the Center for Urban Ecology at [email protected], and follow Quinta Mazatlan on social media.
